Kent Records - Legendary UK Soul Reissue Label CDs

Kent Records - Rare Soul Reissue CDs

Kent History:

Kent Records is a UK-based record label that specialises in reissuing vintage soul, R&B, and blues recordings from the 1950s through the 1970s.

The label was founded in 1982 by Ady Croasdell, a music journalist and soul music enthusiast, and is a subsidiary of Ace Records.

Kent Records was born out of Croasdell's passion for obscure and overlooked soul music. He began collecting rare records in the 1970s and eventually started writing about soul music for various magazines. In 1982, he launched Kent Records as a way to share his love of vintage soul and R&B with a wider audience.

The label's early releases focused on rare and hard-to-find recordings from the 1950s and 1960s. Many of the artists featured on Kent Records had been largely forgotten by the music industry, but Croasdell believed that their music was still relevant and worthy of attention.

Over the years, Kent Records has become known for its meticulous attention to detail and high-quality reissues. The label's releases often include extensive liner notes, rare photos, and detailed discographies, making them valuable resources for music historians and collectors.

In addition to its reissue work, Kent Records has also released a number of original recordings by contemporary soul and R&B artists. The label's roster has included artists such as Jimmy Ruffin, Candi Staton, and Irma Thomas.

Today, Kent Records is considered one of the premier reissue labels for vintage Soul and R&B music. The label continues to release new compilations and reissues, and its catalog is a treasure trove for fans of this classic music.
